Superb food and friendly service

- 5 / 5 stars -2 days ago

We sought this restaurant out based on the reviews and are so glad we did. We returned almost every day that we were in Jerez. The food was freshly prepared and cooked and was of excellent quality. My husband and a friend had the ‘bull steak’ and both declared it really tasty. My favourite dish was the chicken cooked with orange and Pedro Ximenes sauce. A ‘media’ (half portion) was enough to leave room for a dessert. Manuel, the waiter, managed to communicate easily with us - we had the English version of the menu - helpfully numbered - and he had his Spanish version, so ordering was easy. I suspect he understands more English than he speaks, in the same way that we understand more Spanish than we feel confident of saying. Service is friendly and unhurried if you want to linger over your meal, if not just ask for the bill and that’s no problem. Prices are very keen and they take credit cards. This was our favourite restaurant by miles. You really should try to find it - you won’t be disappointed. Thank you to Manolo and his team of young waitresses for the delicious and unforgettable food whilst we were in Jerez. Enjoy your Sunday off, you deserve it!

Found by chance

Just visited Jerez Cathedral, looking for somewhere to have lunch found this place by chance. English and Spanish menus, English spoken. Fast friendly, helpful service. Tapas, other local and Veggie dishes, really enjoyed. Highly recommended 👍

Lovely Lunch

- 5 / 5 stars -1 month ago

We cam here after trying elsewhere post cathedral visit. Lovely lunch with Rabo de Toro, Anchovies, really nice salad, croquettas, etc. Really friendly service, lovely food, they do a nice flight of 5 sherries for only 6Euro (great value) - the place looks newish, lovely quiet outside environment with good shade if you want (the waiter was moving parasols around as the sun moved, without even being asked) good recommendations (it was really too hot for oxtail but he said it was great and I'm glad i had it) - throughly enjoyable lunch, the kind of place you want to go back to time and again!!!

Hidden gem

- 5 / 5 stars -2 months ago

We visited this restaurant on a Monday evening. The waiter was incredibly helpful, the place itself was modern and comfortable and the menu was varied. The four of us ordered different food, some tapas and some more of a single main meal, none of them disappointed. Two different wines were drank, again very nice. The waiter even ordered us a cab when we asked him, bless him. Thank you.

I was in a hurry so just stopped in for some tapas. The service was fast and the tapas were delicious. The sauce with the meatballs was amazing!

Great tapas restaurant near cathedral

Well located restaurant. Great quality. I loved it here and would definitely suggest anyone should visit. 5 sherries in a flight for 6 euros. Unbelievable value.

Great resto minutes off the main touristic street.

- 5 / 5 stars -10 months ago

Found this resto through TripAdvisor. We went on a Monday night in October. Was very quiet. Temperature was perfect so we sat outside and watched as people went about their business. I had the 5 tostas with matching sherry selection. Really excellent. Great matches. (Note. 4 were fish based, which I love. ). We also had croquettas which were really good. Right balance of crunch outside and soft inside and not gooey or heavy. I also had the stuffed anchovy which was amazing. (As you can see i like fish). Plenty of other options available. Fully recommend this place. Run by Manuel, from Jerez.

Great little place to eat or drink in a quiet corner near the cathedral

- 5 / 5 stars -11 months ago

We came upon this place by mistake, stayed for dinner and then returned twice during our week in Jerez. The food seems to be cooked fresh on the premises (unlike a lot of the most central €9 menu of the day places). The main courses are interesting, the tapas delicious, and the desserts terrible if you're trying to keep your figure. There's a small but good wine list and ridiculously good value copas of the house Sherries as well as other drinks. Service is friendly (the main waiter maintains he speaks only Spanish but you can have a lot of fun discovering just how much English, French and German he really understands) and the menus are in several different languages. Probably not for you if you only ever visit restaurants with a Michelin star, but this is much better than the average tourist trap in the town centre.

Perfect!

I was there few times and for sure I will come back when I will be In Jerez. Food is amazing, hard to say what is the best... all is just delicious! As a chocolate lover I fall in love with chocolate mousse and brownie. Very nice salmorejo and jamon, carrillada and orange chicken with Pedro Ximénez are just like a dream! People working there are very friendly and also the place is nice and clean. Best place to try sherry!

Happened by this restaurant during the afternoon on our way back from the Cathedral, and stopped for a quick drink. Whilst there, liked the look of the menu, and decided to return for dinner.Had some really nice tapas, served with a modern touch - food was really good.Service very friendly and helpful.Finished with a sherry taster. It is a little bit away from the main square, but well worth seeking out.

We want the recipe for the chicken in orange and pedro ximinez!

- 5 / 5 stars -1 year ago

After a stomp around the Cathedral, then the Tio Pepe Bodega, we found this nearby bar on the walk back.Hungry and thirsty, we ordered a beer, a wine, a salad, some fish goujons and the above mentioned pollo in naranja and pedro ximinez.Well, the salad and fish were lovely but the chicken was out of this world. We must get the recipe, or a recipe, so we can recreate this at home! Some nice desserts (I had a chocolate mousse) and the price was very reasonable. We were very well looked after by our Ukrainian waitress. She even gave us a couple of free shots.Lovely place. We'd certainly eat here again.

Lovely find away from crowds

- 5 / 5 stars -1 year ago

Found this via trip advisor - good find. Had good tapas served in a modern way. We were offered sherry at the end of the meal, a nice touch. Not located in the main plazas but only just off these, food well worth a visit.

A cut above

- 5 / 5 stars -1 year ago

This was a great find. A friendly, modern place with delicious food, lovely wine and some great food/sherry pairings. It was so good we went back the next day. Dishes we sampled included excellent piementos fritos, a selection of croquettes, tostas with tuna and pepper and smokey sardines, and succulent fried fish. Not to forget a tocino del cielo that was like a heavenly combination of Creme caramel and sticky toffee pudding. I don’t usually do puddings but I did this one. Twice. Do yourself a favour and eat here. Unless you’re on a diet.

A Holiday within a holiday

- 5 / 5 stars -2 years ago

I visited this restaurant on Sunday 1/10/17 while spending a day in Jerez. The restaurant is located in a quiet location away from the hustle, bustle of the main tourist area. There were five of us wanting to taste the sherries of Jerez and when we seen the menu offering tapas and sherry tasting we were delighted. The tapas and sherry came out on a slate serving dish and the presentation was excellent. The waitress explained the different sherries to us and she was very friendly. The building was very clean and inviting and the service was excellent

Had lunch and dinner the same day

- 5 / 5 stars -2 years ago

This was a great find at lunchtime pre a sherry tasting at Bordega tradicion up the hill from the restaurant. They have a great option of veggie dishes for the wifey, but more importantly they have traditional Jerez meat dishes (which made me happy). We done the sherry tasting and rolled back down the hill for more food at the restaurant pork cheeks were superb and the wife had more veg which she really liked.

Great tapas in a sunny location

- 5 / 5 stars -2 years ago

We dined twice at La Nueva Riva - lunch and dinner. On both occasions we had tapas which was both imaginative and of a very high quality. (Try the five toasted tapas - varied, great value and big flavours). The bar/restaurant is away from the main tourist areas but well worth seeking out. Special thanks to our waitress Irene who went out of her way to look after us.

Modest place that deserves more attention

- 5 / 5 stars -2 years ago

We visited this restaurant on our one day stay in Jerez. Close to the hotel and the Cathedral. It is a modest place, but serves excellent food. We had the cold soup and a selection of pinchos, salmon and tuna. All fresh and prepared with great taste. Add a glass of wine and very friendly service (do not over estimate the command of English), the best luch you can omagine in thos part of Spain.
