Great food, but watch for upselling
My Wife and I went for a meal here on 17th October. The food was fantastic and we met an old friend in the shape of a red wine called Lopez Christopel, which cost €15 and was fantastic. However please be careful with the waiter who keeps trying to upselling by: 1. Even though we had ordered our starters he insisted on us ordering an additional starter. 2. We were offered 3 drinks on the house Which featured in the bill at. €18, until we challenged him and got it reversed. The Maitre D is excellent and promptly solved above problems. Despite this the food is excellent and restaurant is highly recommended
Cosy, comfortable, service quality and food
Didn’t understand why other reviewers said the service can be questioned here. We booked for dinner as a walk in, met the manager/owner. His staff were all so nice at dinner. The food: we ate the salmon avocado tartare which was excellent for us (smoked salmon), and had the tuna belly which was cooked to perfection and the special Corvina fish of the day which was served and cleaned for us excellently (thanks to Alberto)! The highlight was the home made cheesecake which we loved so much that we went back the next evening just for that. The place is located at the end of a residential zone right next to the Sol and Dunas apartments and was nicely situated right next to a kids fair and an evening “artesana” market. So plenty to do before and after dinner.
The restaurant has a lovely patio seating area, and a short walk for the sunset views over the sea. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly. Good choice of menu and a variety of fish selections. The portions were small for the price, but the food was very good, although the 'chips' with the steak were akin to crispy sticks! The salad was grated carrot and small pieces of cucumber, and really did not do the steak justice. Overall, we enjoyed the food, the ambience and the service, but I would not say it was good value.
Superb food and hospitality
Found whilst looking for a restaurant as an alternative to the hotel where we stayed for four nights. Not much choice as it was early in the season and most were closed. What a find! The food and welcome was exceptional, so much so that we returned on each of the folowing three nights. Many thanks to Alberto, Camilla and family.
Absolutely fenomenal. We visited it 2 days in the row, almost nothing else was opened. We were the only 2 people in the restaurant. But this was the best food you can get for reasonable price. Strongly recomend fish and paella...
Very surprised at how good the food was. Also slightly different then the normal Spanish fare but it was the lemon meringue pie which was the highlight. Light and fluffy with the tang of fresh lemons. Delicious. Estupendo. Service good too.
a very big choice of tapas , and not expensive , B U T at paying the small bill , i was astonished to see , that thea had added euros 0.85 , for the fork and the " picos "
Great meal and service
We are just getting used to the restaurants in these parts, and that a rougher or tardier exterior isn’t usually indication of the type of establishment within! Better just to look at the menu, and this establishment’s seemed fine to us. The outdoor seating was confined to quite a small area, packed full of tables, and reasonably busy, but not heaving, on this occasion. Juan Carlos was our very affable and professional waiter, who really was very helpful. Apart from his taking our order for one menu item which he subsequently explained was not on the menu for this summer (strangely, I feel we must have been the first to order this particularly item this season, and certainly, the printed menus had 2016 on every page, and needed to be updated) everything about the evening was great. Our tomato/tuna/caper salad and mixed salad were not only tasty but beautifully presented, and then our ‘special’ of grilled octopus with mashed potato and marinated red peppers was exceptional. Juan Carlos also then helpfully gave us a suggestion of how to eat it, combining the small amount of powdered charcoal on our plates with some of each of the other component parts, in order to deliver the best taste. He was right! We also enjoyed our local Sauvignon Blanc, which is so reasonable in price. This is not the cheapest place in town, but neither is it exorbitant. We would certainly recommend it.
We had a great dinner at El Farito. Mussels as a starter, then Sepia and Steak. The owner was super nice on top. Payed around 60 euros for two great menus, starter, wine, beer, water - absolutely fairly priced!
Very good kitchen, friendly service
We enjoyed several meals at El Farito. Very happy to find such a good kitchen and such friendly people. Whenever in the area we'll be sure to visit again!
Best food and quality
Best Restaurant i know in this area!! I will come again 👍 High quality, good service and friendly people for many wonderfull evenings! Thanks a lot
A bit out of the way
This restaurant was in a small complex near the hotel and on the way to the beach, we had a lovely meal and wine
Very good and not expensive
During our last stay in La Barrosa, we went again to El Farito, a small and typical spanish restaurant near our apart with outside tables by a terrassa . We ordered some jamon and puntillitas and ensalada mixta for first plate, it was a very good quantity and tasty. After we ordered a grilled lubina and mixed paella , which was also very good, rich and tasty . Service was excellent,
Wonderful and family friendly
We loved this place. It was just the right side of informal but with the right element of attentiveness from the staff as well. We sat in what felt a little like a classic feria restaurant but with quirky touches like the old Guinness adverts hanging on the wall along with mantillas and bunting. The host/owner of the restaurant was super friendly and gave us great advice on food choices. We choose the tuna as it was in season and was served in a very modern tartaki style which was right up my street. On recommendation we tried the award winning Albondigas de Chicarrones which were to die for. I enjoyed that although it was Spanish the taste was more refined and unusual and after a week on holiday I was a bit tired of the normal Spanish fare so this was a wonderful change. They also have a small table dedicated to the kids, with overflowing kids toys, large and small and colouring books and pens which kept my two entertained after their meal and the staff did not seem to mind my son playing around their feet which was a huge relief as I had grown tired of trying to restrain him in the other restaurants. They also had an extensive children´s menu that is incredible value my two tucked in to their steak and chips which were a mere €9 per head which was excellent and really tasty. The wine was also recommended and local and was delicious Sauvignon Blanc which really hit the stop. I had a dessert which was equally delicious. I can´t recommend this place more highly. I really wonderful place with attentive and pleasant staff who couldn´t do enough for you. If your in the area it is definitely a little gem. Don´t miss out.
Great food, and nice staff, with good advice about food, and good service. The food was standard Spanish, with plenty of seafood, and it was well cooked and served. The wine was great. And all at a great price, too.
